ARTISTS' GUILD MEETING PROGRAMS
Meetings at the Church of the Annunciation
Holmes Beach, 6:30PM
Monday, April 7th, 6:30pm
Ralph Garafola studied for 7 years at the Art Students League of New York, after which he worked as a commercial artist in New York. After 'retirement', and in his second career, he has focused on portrait art and teaching, using the Munsell method of color system that specifies three color dimensions: hue, chroma and value. He regularly exhibits in the local area and has won numerous awards and citations for his work. He continues to paint, maintaining studios in New Jersey and here in Bradenton in the winter months. He is a gifted teacher, willing to pass on to others knowledge and his love of painting.
Garafola completed a series of four paintings of the Bridge Street Clock Tower done at different times of the day or during different weather conditions.
During his presentation at the Artists' Guild General Meeting and Program on April 7, he will discuss how these variations affected the values of the colors he used in the painting, and how to do this. One of these paintings recently won the Second Place Award at ArtCenter Manatee in Bradenton.
